Good ways to prevent noisy neighbors

Rude Neighbor - Noisy and annoying next door neighbors

Why won’t they shut up???

The most common complaint about neighbors is obviously the noise. Complaints can often lead to worsened situation unfortunately.

Here are some good ways to thwart noisy neighbors.

I will preface this with the fact that my head/ears are larger than average. I’ve tried 3 different earplugs and here’s where I stand.

Hearos Xtreme Protection series. Of the three earplugs tested, these are the biggest ones with the most snug fit. These pretty much entirely block out the noise. Because of this, these are the least comfortable of the three, but I got used to them pretty quickly. Silence is golden! 🙂 I wouldn’t recommend these to people with smaller ear canals.

Hearos Ultimate Softness Series: Too small to block everything out. Xtreme Protection was much better for my larger ears. These felt the best in the ears though.

Mack’s Ear Care Ultra Soft: Similar to the Hearos Ultimate. This is the best value of the three, but least comfortable.

White Noise Maker

You may question adding more noise to lessen your noise. White noise does work though. It blends all of the outside sounds into the background, tricking your brain into calmness. I own the Marpac Natural White Noise Sound Machine and it keeps me calm most of the time. 🙂 It has strong reviews.

Noise Dampeners

If you own your place you should be able to insulate your walls and close them up with sheet rock People in shared apartments don’t always have that luxury, but we still need to sleep! I found this interesting solution for people in cramped situations. The Quilted Fiberglass Panel. Very good price for sound absorbers and it’s as easy as hanging it up on your wall. Obviously it won’t obliterate the noise, but it’ll do a good job for the money. Hangs flat on your wall so it won’t look like a barricade.
